I am a nomad, I currently do not have a home and I am living my life one step at a time. I know that a lot of people are uncomfortable with the idea of not having plans or stability. That is why it is important to find peace within your life when you are unable to know the future. There are many ways in which you can balance this while also staying calm. The things I am writing about are ways that have worked and still work for me. I am one person and that doesn’t mean I have the answers to everything, but I would like to share my ideas and experiences. Being a Reiki Master and life coach has opened my mind, body and soul towards finding healthier and more productive ways of handling the hurdles in my life.
I find that when I am feeling overwhelmed or stressed about a situation, I like to sit with it and try to understand what is going on. I listen to my body, my thoughts and anything else that seems unusual to me. I allow myself the time to be with whatever emotions that come up for me. I look at how I saw the situation, how it could be and what potentially I can learn or change from it. If you take your time to feel what you are feeling, it will help you in the long run, instead of stuffing your feelings down and pretending that they aren’t there. By facing your feelings, you are giving yourself the chance to build a better relationship with yourself and difficult situations that pop their head in the future.
Stability for me, can be found in activities, people or things in my life and help me feel more comfortable and at peace. I find ways of keeping my mind moving and staying active. An example would be, if I am sad and need to find a way to feel more at peace, I reach out to a friend and spend sometime with that person. I talk through my emotions, joke around or just have a a meaningful conversation. This boosts my moral and gives me an energy lift. All I need sometimes is something to make me feel good and comfortable. Reaching out to people or doing something can allows some stress relief, time to relax and turn off your mind.
Find a Hobby that you enjoy doing in your life. It could be exercise, painting, dancing, writing, sculpting or anything that sparks an interest. Lift you spirits by keeping yourself occupied with something you enjoy taking an active role in. It makes you feel whole and gives you the time to spend with yourself. It builds stamina, which in turn could make you feel more stable. Using your body gets your energy flowing and your mind to relax. When you relax, you are less likely to feel out of control and more calm. I find when I am feeling over whelmed, I like to write or dance. It is a form of release and allows me the ability to feel like a free bird. It gets me out of the potential funk that I could be in and I start moving and exploring. As I continue these activities I feel more settled even if my life is not.
Meditation is a beautiful gift given to us by the universe to stop our crazy swirling thoughts from driving us insane. The great thing is that all you need you, music and a comfortable and quiet place to sit or lie down. You don’t have to use music but it can be beneficial. I usually use spotify, pandora or youtube. I know there are many apps and other technological sources that can provide you with music, feel free to explore. All you do is close your eyes and breath slowly and deeply; allowing yourself and your body to float to whichever destination you choose. I love to meditate because it’s the kind of chill pill I need to relax and cool my mind down for a moment. The great thing is I don’t have to do it for one hour, I can do it for 5-20 minutes and I feel so much better after. I usually try and do it everyday, but sometimes other things get in the way, and there is nothing wrong with that. Meditation is a simple and healthy way for you to feel good and it also calms the questions and thoughts of uncertainty.
These are just a few examples of what I do to make myself feel better when I do not know what the future has to offer. Life isn’t perfect, it takes you on roller coaster rides and throws the most random journeys at you without you knowing. The best thing you can do for yourself is try to make your life stable and comfortable even in the most chaotic of situations. You should be your supporter and friend and the stability of having a relationship with yourself should also provide you with a calmness and clarity. Use some of these tools to help you along your journey, and if you’re still unsure, keep digging, you will find something.
